Have Fines? Pay Them Off With Non-Perishable Items and Canned Goods The library will be accepting canned goods and non-perishable food items this month for Sharing & Caring in lieu of fines. These items will help families in our community enjoy this holiday season. The value of the canned goods and non-perishable food items should be close to the amount of the fine owed.
Preschool (Ages 3-5) Story Time Inspire your future reader at our preschool story time. Join us for exciting stories selected just for children ages 3-5 years old. Programs will be held in Youth Services program room on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 1st; “Kevin Henkes Stories”

American Girls History Mystery Book Club This club for girls in 2nd-6th grade will meet the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. until noon in the YS program room. Registration is required as space is limited. Girls must sign up in YS for each meeting, check out the book or purchase your own copy, and finish the book before the meeting date. We will meet Dec. 17th, from 11:00-12:00 for “A Christmas Tea”. Please call 279-4863 x1514 to register.
Christmas Card Contest Youth Services is sponsoring a Christmas Card Contest for ages 6-8, 9-12, and 13-17. Entries may be considered in one of three categories for each age group: Religious, Most Creative and Book Themed. One entry per child. Cards will be accepted in Youth Services Dec. 1st-14th. Judging will take place on Dec. 15th and winners notified by phone. Prizes for all winners are gift certificates to Bayou Book Store in Niceville. If you like, card making supplies will be available in YS on Saturday, Dec. 10th, 10:30-Noon. Stop by YS for further information or call 279-4863 x1514.
Baby Bookworms This lapsit program consists of music, stories and rhymes especially chosen to build the bond between you and your child. Program is suited for children from birth to age 3. Please meet in YS program room on 2nd & 4th Fridays each month. Prewalkers -9:30, Walkers up to age three-10:30. This month our program is on Dec. 9th only.
After School Program “Catch the Magic School Bus” each month in Youth Services! Children ages 6-12 years old meet the second Tuesday of each month from 4:15-5:30 in the program room. Every month the program will focus on a different Magic School Bus book and will include fun facts, hands-on activities, cool science and of course a Ms. Frizzle mystery or two. Children are encouraged to check out related books and are always welcome to share what they’ve read and learned along the way. Space is limited so registration is required. Our December meeting is on the 13th when the Magic School Bus enjoys a Holiday Special. Please call 279-4863 x1514.
Niceville Library Cookie Swap The library will be hosting a Cookie Swap on Thursday, December 8 from 10:30 – 11:30 am. You can pick up an information sheet at the library. Each person registered will be required to bring 5 dozen cookies. The number may be changed depending on the number of people registered. Coffee and tea will be provided. Registration is required. Please register by Saturday, December 3, 2011.

Scrabble Anyone? @ Niceville Library Do you enjoy playing Scrabble? If so, here's a great opportunity to have fun, meet new people and play some Scrabble, as the small conference room at the Niceville Public Library will be set up with Scrabble boards for the adult community to play and enjoy on Wednesday, December 7 & 21 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Please keep in mind that you don't have to be an expert to participate and all skill levels are welcome.
